# Agent Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer - Company: [Intentlab]() - Location: HQ - Team: GTM - Employment type: Full Time - Posted: May 29, 2026 ## Job description We are looking for highly capable and customer-obsessed Agent Engineers / Forward Deployed Engineers to lead technical deployments of IntentLab inside large engineering organizations. This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, hands-on agent experience, sharp customer instincts, and the ability to operate independently in ambiguous, high-stakes environments. # Key Responsibilities ## Customer Deployments * Lead end-to-end technical deployments of IntentLab inside customer engineering organizations. * Wire our system into customer codebases, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. * Own the customer technical lifecycle from first integration through steady-state operation. ## Agent Engineering * Build and tune custom agent behaviors, tool integrations, and evaluation harnesses for each customer's backend. * Debug agent performance across distributed systems and unfamiliar production code. * Validate integrations and maintain reliable system performance in customer environments. ## Customer Partnership * Lead demos, pilots, and technical workshops with engineers, platform leads, and CTOs. * Build deep relationships with customer engineering teams and drive adoption from the inside. * Translate customer pain and usage patterns into product and research priorities. ## Execution & Craft * Bias toward shipping fixes and features yourself rather than filing tickets. * Write crisp documentation, reference integrations, and playbooks that turn one-off wins into repeatable ones. * Operate at the edges — name problems, propose solutions, drive to done. # Qualifications * 3+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in backend or infrastructure work. * Hands-on experience with LLMs and agent systems: prompt engineering, tool use, evals, multi-step orchestration. * Familiarity with distributed systems, containers, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure). * Proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Go). * Strong written and verbal communication — comfortable with senior engineers and executives alike. * Self-directed by default; comfortable with ambiguity, context switching, and sustained intensity. * Based in the Bay Area or willing to relocate (onsite role). # What We Value * Customer empathy and end-to-end ownership. * Bias toward execution over planning to execute. * Technical curiosity and exploratory rigor. * Pragmatism over over-engineering. * Grit in high-intensity, ambiguous environments. ## Apply [Apply on Intentlab]() Canonical job page:
