# PostgreSQL Database Architect - Company: [D2consulting]() - Location: Springfield, VA - Team: D2 - Posted: July 17, 2026 ## Job description **\*\*ACTIVE TS/SCI SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED\*\*** D2 has an immediate  need for a PostgreSQL Database Architect to analyze, design, develop, implement, and support database infrastructure deployment and management. Responsibilities: * Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of servers running on one or more operating systems * Maintains database integrity and security, configures role-based access control (RBAC), and sets up administrative accounts * Sets up, administers, and services accounts * Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures * Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products * Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources * Develops and implements testing strategies and document results * Provides advice on performance tuning and training to end-users * Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned * Evaluates open-source or vendor tools and participates in database migration/special modernization projects * Collaborates with developers on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures * Plans and executes database upgrades, patching, and migrations * Ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements **What We're Looking For** **Required:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience * 5+ years of related database analysis and/or administration experience * PostgreSQL experience required. Oracle database administration is a plus * Experience in PostgreSQL administration/tuning; including knowledge and implementation of database high-availability solutions and performance tuning * Experience in monitoring, creating, and managing PostgreSQL server agent alerts * Experience with database backup, restore, migration, and database snapshot technologies/strategies * Knowledge on how to build/maintain efficient database table structures for both transactional and warehouse data * Migration experience with Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, * TS/SCI clearance **Bonus Points For:** * CompTIA Security+ or equivalent **What to Expect Day-to-Day** You'll work with moderate autonomy — trusted to manage your workload and make good technical decisions without someone looking over your shoulder. The salary range for this position is typically $130 - $140k.
