# Product Engineer \(Mid-Level\) - Company: [Clera]() - Location: San Francisco - Team: Engineering - Employment type: Full Time - Salary: $150K – $300K - Posted: September 10, 2026 ## Job description ### About the Role This is a full-stack product engineering role at an early-stage AI recruiting startup, working directly alongside founders and a small team to build the core product. You will own features end-to-end, integrate AI capabilities into real user-facing flows, and help shape technical direction at a critical point in the company's growth. ### What You'll Do * Own product features from scoping and design through deployment and iteration in production. * Design APIs and data models, and implement both frontend and backend code. * Ship user-facing experiences that balance usability and performance, iterating based on feedback and metrics. * Integrate LLM and AI capabilities into product flows to make intelligence reliable for end users. * Design and maintain scalable backend services, data schemas, and operational tooling including CI/CD, monitoring, and testing. * Collaborate directly with founders, product, and design to prioritize work and define success metrics. * Participate in architecture and roadmap discussions, making pragmatic tradeoffs suited to early-stage growth. ### What We're Looking For * 2 to 8 years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping user-facing products. * Strong full-stack skills: TypeScript and React or Next.js on the frontend, plus backend development in Python or Node.js. * Experience with PostgreSQL and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP. * Practical, production-focused experience integrating LLMs or AI services into applications (engineering, not research). * Clear product sense and the ability to translate user problems into measurable, practical solutions. * Comfort operating in small teams with limited process, high ambiguity, and broad scope across frontend, backend, and DevOps. * Experience building multi-tenant or enterprise-ready systems, designing APIs, or working with real-time or high-throughput applications is a strong plus. * Background in regulated industries such as healthcare, fintech, or legal, or experience with complex internal tooling, is a plus. * Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows is a plus. ### Compensation & Benefits Salary range: **$150,000 to $300,000 USD annually.** Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. ### Location On-site in **San Francisco, California, United States.** ## Apply [Apply on Clera]() Canonical job page:
