About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Marketing Growth Communications Intern who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement.
As a Marketing Growth Communications Intern, you will play a critical support role with responsibility for preparing and executing the campaigns behind our consumer programs — subscriptions, giveaways, surveys, and lifecycle communications — that reach millions of shoppers. A core focus will be managing our CRM platform (Braze) across email, push, SMS, and in-app, building and QAing assets, managing compliance approvals, and reporting on performance. In addition to execution, you will help build content to support channel optimization, segmentation, and analytics across all channels. To achieve these goals, you will engage with varying members across the marketing department, as well as Design, Product and Compliance.
The primary aim for this role is to help create relevant, customized and personalized content for our Sezzle consumers, to maximize revenue and engagement. Over time you will move from executing campaigns to shaping them — proposing the audience, the timing, and the message.
What You'll Do:
Build and launch campaigns
- Build marketing communications in our CRM platform (Braze) across email, push, SMS, and in-app
- Build and QA landing pages and campaign assets, making sure everything renders correctly before it reaches a single shopper
- Own the day-to-day asset production flow: build, quality assurance, approvals, deployment, and communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage the compliance and legal approval of assets.
Keep the operation running
- Support day-to-day operations, keeping every marketing initiative up to date and on schedule
- Maintain and organize campaign documentation — briefs, schedules, reports, and final assets
- Identify potential risks early and come with a recommendation for how to mitigate them
- Support the client and sales teams with in-app promotional setup and reporting
Measure and improve
- Pull campaign performance data and report back on what actually happened
- Recommend how to optimize the next campaign based on what the last one showed
- Test copy, creative, and timing, and help work out which version earns its place
- Use AI tools (Claude and similar) to speed up research, first drafts, and reporting
What We Look For:
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Attention to detail is a must. There are plenty of moving parts within this role
- Experience copywriting short and engaging messages
- Comfortable with numbers — you can look at a table of campaign results and say something useful about it
- Basic creative design skills and knowledge of Figma
- You get the most out of AI. Claude, ChatGPT, or similar are already part of how you work — research, copy, summaries — and you're constantly exploring what else they can handle
- Comfort working in agile, matrixed teams with multiple inputs and quick turnarounds
- A strong bias for action
Educational & Professional Experience
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, communications, advertising, business, or a related field
- Basic project management skills
- Prior experience with Braze or another CRM/marketing automation platform is a plus
- Experience building email templates or landing pages is a plus
- Any experience with email, push notifications, in-app messaging, eCommerce, or digital marketing is a plus
- Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required; candidates must be comfortable leveraging AI to enhance productivity, research, and communication.
About You:
- You have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed.
- You’re not bound by convention - your success—and much of the fun—lies in developing new ways to do things
- You need action - speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking.
- You earn trust - you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully.
- You have backbone; disagree, then commit - you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly.
- You deliver results - you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle.
