Apply on Emergentlabsinc

Emergent builds autonomous coding agents that replace traditional software development by generating, testing, and deploying production applications directly from plain-language intent. Our systems run in production at global scale and are used to build millions of real applications.

Since our public launch, we've crossed $100M in ARR and grown to over 10M users across 190+ countries, who have built 12M+ applications on Emergent. We're backed by Creaegis, Claypond, Sentinel Global, Khosla Ventures, SoftBank, Google, Lightspeed, Prosus, Together, and Y Combinator.

We're solving the hard part of AI-driven software creation: correctness, reliability, security, and scale in real production systems. The team is built by repeat founders, Olympiad medalists, IIT & IIM alumni, and leaders from Google, Amazon, and Dropbox.

We're hiring builders who want ownership, speed, and impact at global scale.

The Role:
We are looking for a Payroll and HR Operations Specialist who will own end-to-end payroll operations and keep our HR engine running smoothly. You will be the go-to person for payroll accuracy, reimbursements, statutory compliance, and HRMS data integrity, while also supporting employee lifecycle processes like onboarding, exits, and engagement as the team needs. This is a high-ownership role in a fast-moving environment where precision and empathy both matter.

What You'll Do:

  • Own monthly payroll processing end-to-end: inputs, validations, approvals, disbursement coordination, and post-payroll reconciliation
  • Manage employee reimbursements, including policy adherence, verification, and timely processing
  • Handle full and final settlements for exiting employees with accuracy and speed
  • Coordinate with Finance on payroll accounting, salary registers, and audit requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate statutory compliance: PF, ESI, Professional Tax, TDS, LWF, gratuity, and related filings
  • Support payroll and labour law audits, and maintain clean documentation for all statutory records
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and proactively flag anything that impacts payroll or policy
  • Own employee data integrity on Keka HRMS: employee records, org structure, compensation data, leave and attendance
  • Build and maintain HR reports and dashboards for headcount, payroll cost, leave, and attrition
  • Drive process hygiene: clean workflows, documented SOPs, and audit-ready data at all times
  • Support employee lifecycle processes like onboarding, exits, engagement, policy rollouts.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in payroll and HR operations, ideally in a fast-growing startup or tech company
  • Hands-on expertise with India payroll processing and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF)
  • Working experience with Keka or a comparable HRMS (Darwinbox, greytHR, ZingHR), with strong data discipline
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, with comfort in payroll registers, reconciliations, and reporting
  • High attention to detail, strong ownership, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Good to Have:

  • Exposure to US payroll
  • Experience supporting HR operations across multiple entities or geographies
  • Experience in a company that scaled from 100 to 500+ employees

Benefits and Perks:

  • Daily Meals: Lunch and Dinner provided
  • Family Insurance: 5 Lakhs worth of coverage for you and your family
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off: Take the time you need to recharge and come back refreshed
  • Flexible Working Hours: Work arrangements that fit your life and commitments

Let's build the future of software together.
